A key attraction of the event was the laboratory demonstration, where students observed microscopic algae like Nostoc and Oedogonium under a compound microscope. This hands-on session helped students in understanding the structure and characteristics of these algal forms, enhancing the practical knowledge, and interest in microscopy. Also the ecological and economical importance of these tiny forms were depicted to them for better clarity.

Another significant activity was deciphering on the medicinal importance of plants. Students presented informative demonstration on Mikania and Tulsi, explaining their traditional and modern medicinal uses. The demonstration emphasized the role of plants in healthcare and encouraged awareness about herbal remedies and biodiversity conservation. The celebration also successfully fostered scientific curiosity, practical learning, and appreciation for the importance of botany in everyday life.
  2. Field Visit:
The Undergraduate Department of Botany organized an educational field visit to the Agri-Horticulture Garden, Alipore on 28th February 2026 to provide students with practical exposure to plant diversity and horticultural practices. The visit aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real world application. Teaching faculty members Dr. Chandan Naskar and Dr. Jayanti Saha including one laboratory assistant Mrs. Asha Shaw guided the students throughout the activities, making the session interactive and informative.

During the visit, students observed a wide variety of ornamental, medicinal, and economically important plants.
