Edited by Dr Antara Mukherjee, Assistant Professor of English, Government Girls’ General Degree College, Ekbalpore, and Convenor, Khana-e-Kidderpore, Heritage Food Festival, held on 22nd November, 2022, ‘Dastarkhwan’ is a Food Newsletter, a knowledge based volume, on the varied heritage food items found in Kidderpore Area. The Newsletter makes clear of the purpose of the Festival in the concept note and discusses in detail the dominant heritage of the Area. It is prepared on the basis of primary source – a field survey undertaken by a group of teachers, students, office staff and conscious local citizens to different heritage eateries in the locality. The newsletter encompasses interactions with the owners of the eateries, recipes of some food items and photographs of food, owners, the exterior and interiors of eateries; it also expresses concern at the gradual disappearance of some authentic food items and eateries in the locality and urges for attention towards them, both academically and administratively.
