An Educational Tour to the Indian Museum, Kolkata.
October 11, 2023; Kolkata: One day long educational tour to the Indian Museum, Kolkata, was organised by Department of History, Government Girls’ General Degree College on October 11, 2023. The tour comprised of History Honours students of the department accompanied by its faculty members.
The group started from the college at 10:00 A.M. and reached the destination at 10:45 A.M. Ms. Shifta Irshad, an archaeologist by qualification, who acted as the museum guide, vividly explained various aspects of the exhibits on display and also answered the queries of the students. The sections of the museum that the group visited are the Bharhut Gallery, the L. Archaeology Section, the Gandhara Gallery, the Terracotta Section, the Painting section and the Natural History sections.
The tour was a great learning experience for the students. The group departed from the museum at 04:00 P.M.

An Educational Tour to the Indian Museum.
March 26, 2022, Kolkata: A day long educational tour to the Indian Museum, Kolkata, was arranged by the Department of History, Government Girls’ General Degree College under the supervision of it’s Assistant Professor, Nafisa Sarkar on 26th March, 2022. The participants in this tour were 4th semester students of the department. The tour kicked off on a somewhat overcast morning from the college. However, by the time the group reached its destination, the sky was clear, bright and sunny. The sections of the Museum that the group visited includes, the Bharhut Gallery, the L. Archaeology Section, the Gandhara Gallery, the Terracotta Section, the Painting Section, the Decorative Arts Gallery and the Egypt Gallery. This tour provided enriching experience to the group and also helped the students to understand and appreciate the rich cultural heritage of India even more.

Four Days Educational Trip to Bakhhali Village, Namkhana Block, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal.
As part of syllabus curriculum in Practical Paper of Semester-V (CBCS) system in Geography under University of Calcutta, an educational field trip was arranged in a rural setup at Namkhana Block in South 24 Parganas District from 13th of March to 16th of March, 2020. The village considered for carrying the man-environment study was Lakshmipur Abad Village popularly known as Bakkhali which is also a very popular tourist spot in West Bengal. All total 17 students from semester 4 of the Department accompanied the faculty member – Dr. Rajashree Dasgupta (Assistant Professor & Head) and a non-teaching staff Mr. Kamalesh Mandal to carry out the detailed study as prescribed in the syllabus of University of Calcutta. The students performed a detailed socio-economic household survey, road survey, market survey, hotel survey and tourist survey in the respective locality within the four days stipulated time. They also performed surveying and levelling in open fields to know the undulations of the locale.

Four Days Educational Trip to Dhamakhali Village, Sandeshkhali II Block, h 24 Parganas, West Bengal.
As part of syllabus curriculum in Practical Paper of Part III (H) under (1+1+1) system in Geography under University of Calcutta, a compulsory educational field trip has to be conducted either in an urban or in a rural unit within or outside West Bengal in order to make the students perform a holistic study of man-environment relationship in varied physical and socio-economic setups. To accomplish this study, the Department of Geography took initiatives of performing this study with three Part III (Hons.) students in a rural unit of Dhamakhali Village of Sandeshkhali II Block, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal from 19th of October to 22nd of October, 2019. The three students were accompanied by a faculty member, Dr. Rajashree Dasgupta (Assistant Professor & Head) and a non-teaching staff Mr. Kamalesh Mandal from the department. The students performed a detailed socio-economic household survey, road survey, market survey in Dhamakhali Village within the four days stipulated time. They also performed surveying and levelling in open fields to know the undulations of the locale.

Study Tour to Geological Survey of India Office, Govt. of India, organised by Department of Geography.
A one-day study tour was organized by the Department of Geography at Geological Survey of India Office, Park Street Branch, Kolkata for 1st semester students of the Department to attend a demonstration class on Rocks and Minerals.

Visit to Bidhan-Sabha Bhaban.
The students of Political Science Department went to the Bidhan-Sabha Bhaban. Dr. Madhuparna Gupta escorted them on this educational tour.

Visit to the Mausoleum of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah at Metiabruz of Garden Reach.
On 16th August, 2019 students of the Department of Political Science visited the mausoleum of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah at Metiabruz of Garden Reach area under the supervision of Dr. Madhuparna Gupta.They visited Sibtainbad Imambara, built in 1864, the Shahi Imambara, built in 1866 for Nawab's private use, the Bait-ul-Nijat Imambara, built in 1863, the Bichali Ghat, where the Nawab landed in Calcutta from Lucknow in 1856 and the BNR building, where he stayed.
