What is Young India Unchained?
Young India Unchained (YIU) is a collective of Youths to become informed citizen and create awareness on women and child safety issues including human trafficking plaguing the youth. It is aimed at nurturing today’s youth as tomorrow’s responsible and vigilant citizens who will work to make the city safer for every girl. With the help of experts in law & policy and decision makers, we will mentor these young changemakers to display determination to end violence against women and children by being vigilant and knowing the right process of reporting a crime.
Overview

Event: YIU Orientation Workshop
The initiative commenced with an Orientation Workshop organized on campus. During this session, representatives from Prakruthi Trust introduced the objectives of the organization and discussed the broader issues of human trafficking. The workshop also facilitated the selection of Core Committee Members, and the formation of the YIU Safety Club, which will lead future awareness and outreach activities within the college.

Core Committee Meetings
Description: Regular meetings were held to strategize and plan initiatives, ensuring effective implementation of activities throughout the year.
Several campus-level activities were conducted under the YIU initiative:

Knowledge sharing Workshop
Topic-Cyber Crime and Cyber Safety
The Cyber Security Workshop under the Young India Unchained initiative was an insightful session that enhanced students’ understanding of online safety and responsible digital behaviour.

Key Learnings from the Cyber Security Workshop
Participants learned about the rising cases of cyber crimes in India and West Bengal and explored their root causes, including careless sharing of personal data and unsafe online practices. They were advised to protect personal information and maintain privacy on social media to prevent fraud, identity theft, or trafficking risks.
The expert highlighted the role of local authorities and guided students on official reporting mechanisms, sharing government websites and helplines for cyber crime assistance. Real case studies illustrated how criminals exploit social media through fake profiles and job scams, helping students recognize modern digital threats.
A crucial lesson was understanding the link between cyber insecurity and human trafficking and how vigilance can prevent exploitation. The workshop concluded by encouraging all participants to act as informed, responsible digital citizens who contribute to a safer and ethical online community.
Conclusion
The Young India Unchained Initiative at Government Girls’ General Degree College marks an important step towards building youth awareness and engagement against human trafficking. Through such meaningful collaborations and activities, the college continues to strengthen its commitment to social responsibility and gender safety.
